Wannabe RS Turbo owner
Hi all. Quick one about me i have always had a passion for these cars, was in my first B reg when i was about 14 with my dad after we took an S1 RS Turbo out for a spin never forget it.
Anyway i have been eyeing up a restoration project on an S1 RS Turbo, would someone be so kind to discuss with me potential work required on it?
Seems it needs new floor pans, battery area and potential inner wings.
Ive started reading and seen a few examples where they strip to the shell and place on a jig to ensure of alignment whilst fitting the floor pan and major strutural parts. Would this be the normal course here?
Whilst im confident i could strip and rebuild most of the mechanical side. Im not body work expert, can only guess weld, never mig or tig'd etc in my life. Would i be looking at lots of money to pay someone to do all the resto work on the shell?
Am i possibly buying into a huge money pit here out of my depth.
Thanks for listening. And i envy all of you owners out there!

Best get yourself registered on this site http://www.seriesoneturbo.co.uk/sear...archid=2185496 and ask there,if a s1 is missing small bits and pieces which you need it will bankrupt you,if the car is cheap I'd advise you to break it and make some money and put it towards a good 1 that someone else has lost a fortune on or 1 that's pretty original, when you consider a dashboard can go for around £1000,parcel shelfs £300 to name but 2 things that will prob be damaged or broken, add in welding, panels (front panels go for up to £500),a respray, the hassle then you are looking at a costly resto.
Just my tuppence worth.
