Default Lead for body repairs?

The real old school way of filling joins on seams and welds was to use lead. So much better than filler if done right as it flexes with the steel. Anyone still do this or has modern technology now provided a better solution?

I remember watching the programme 'a car is reborn' where he restored an e-type and the used lead so some classic restoration places must still use it

I had my roof on my old RS Turbo lead filled by a company in Staffordshire to sort rust that was near sunroof, was a great job and they restore vintage cars all the time.

Modern hasn't proved better lol filler is just cheaper and most body shops don't give a shit now they just want you in and out and paying

its difficult to get the proper lead solder now they tend to be silver solders these days as the lead fumes are not good for breathing, the only reason bodyfillers have replaced this method is for speed
