Can anybody help I have a very nice early mk3 shell with 2 strut bolts I want to change them to later type single bolt. Can I change the inner wing and strut top. I have all the bits for a s1 turbo. I know it will never be an rs but I want it to be the best possible replica. Anybody know who may have the panels to do it pref new thanks

 

There's a lot more than just the strut tops.
Rear suspension x member,shorter gutter rails are dead giveaways.
If you wanted to do it you can still find single bolt full inner wings on eBay for about Ł200 each.

I have a mk4 escort xr3i could I cut out the inner wing and strut mount panel and put it on my mk3 to convert it to single bolt strut thanks

 

Probably,if you have done all that work already I'd imagine it would be easy for you to figure out and do.
The a posts are different too,s1 has a single bolt door check strap,early shell has a 2 bolt strap.

 

Hi Lee I have no idea about the differences I bought the car as the shell was very clean I knew about the struts being different but wasn't too bothered as the car is for me and not for sale. My mate is going to do the work and he had suggested we should do the struts to make a better replica. My concern is will the mk4 inner bay fit and are there any other problems I might have using the earlier shell
