Default Suspension kits what's best alrounder

Hi am looking for a kit but I want a good on track kit but not break my back when I take it for a nice weekend drive. I know koni's where good back in the day are they still the ones to go for? Gaz Coilovers would be good on track but I think will be awful on the road.

Get in touch with Shaun Pickering in Lincoln. He's a Koni agent, he'll look after you.

I found gaz coil overs comfortable on road, firm but much much better than the crashy old koni that I removed, that's with polybushes as well

Really in a little escort as well I think it would be like when I was 18 and had the hardest suspension in the world on my nova and because here's no weight in the car it's not a nice thing to drive but good back then.

I got mine new from Burton Power 2 years ago. They were manufactured in 2012. So looks like they still make them.

So koni's will still be nice to drive on the road and I should be able to keep up with people around the bends on a track?

I have just bought MEF gear after spending time looking into it, hard to get but Koni as others say are a good all round set up for the money and well made, good for roads and track dep on how serious you track your car. Like anything its money money money to get the best suspension and parts.

I would spend the money on say the likes of gaz Coilovers or avo Coilovers but like I've said I hate a hard ride and a car that won't be nice to drive on the roads.

Don't forget even the basic gaz units have damping adjustments so you make it as stiff or as soft as you want, I can't tell you how nicer the cars drive with gaz coilovers in comparison to the bone shaker Koni stuff, that's a comparison from both suspension setups on the same car

Aren't koni's adjustable? Only difference with Coilovers is height adjustable Also aren't Coilovers generally have a higher spring rating?

Yeah the Koni are damping adjustable, as with the spring rates I'd say the best bet would be to speak to gaz directly telling them what you use the car for, i can't remember off the top of my head what I opted for spring rate wise

I had koni's on my S1 many years ago, no idea what they were set at, handled well.

Is there a guide on setting them up anywhere that anybody knows of?

If my money was going towards RST suspension I would get Gaz coilovers and coat them in grease or even paint them! Failing that it would be Konis. I doubt I'd buy standard stuff for the RST.
