Default Hesitation after hitting rev limiter?

Today I have installed an aftermarket Omex Clumban rev limiter due to the cars very primitive factory limiter which comes in a bit late. Brand new bit of kit, I have installed it and set it up correctly however when I first installed it, it was set to around 5k. As I drove the car to test the limiter I noticed that when hitting the limiter, the car goes into a sort of limp mode and wont accelerate after an upshift for a couple of seconds, it then returns to normal and allows the car to accelerate. I have since set the limiter to around 6.8k and it still does this. I have experimented with different settings and it does it on every single one if I hit the limiter for slightly too long (talking milliseconds here, not bouncing off it like a tool) Is this some form of safeguard, or does the factory ecu see the car overfueling and thus cuts the power? If I nudge the limiter, it doesn't go into limp, but if I stay on a touch too long it does. Any reason why? I'm not one to sit bouncing off the limiter, or even hit it on purpose, I have simply installed it to prevent over revving down the strip.

Either the factory ECU is detecting the misfire and cutting fuel, or you are flooding it and it's taking some time to clear

Ahh right, just seems weird as I've not seen nor experienced any other cars I've owned do it. Is it possible coil pack and plugs could be on way out aswell?
