Been thinking a while about buying mk2 focus ST , but hear they rather shit on fuel so what sort of mpg should I expect? What other faults are common if any?

MPG is anywhere from 26mpg downwards for me. Things to watch out for are misfiring when cold , which could be liner failure. Wheel damage from kerbs, stone chipping to the front end, tyre wear on the back if lowered, as camber needs adjuster bolts to make it good again, cheesy clutches on '07 reg cars, CV clunks. But they are few and far between and plenty for sale , so move on to the next one.

 

I used to average 24mpg in mine with mixed driving, on a steady long run it could do high 30's. People say they are shite on fuel, but considering it's a 2.5 turbo I don't think they are too bad.

 

19 to 36 mpg in my old one.

Averages mid 20's with mainly town driving.

Worst I managed was 13 mpg to a tank but it got a good hiding for the day.
