Default Mondeo mk3 folding mirrors

Recentlyish got a mk3 Monday estate for work, fitted ghia X interior today and folding mirrors, tried them on the car they came from and they worked but where slow, drivers is not playing ball now and guess it needs stripping down and re greasing, anyone had much luck in doing that or got any pointers? The motor is trying but can't quite manage it.

Well for anyone interested, the mirrors can be stripped apart, there pretty basic apart from a little circuit board with the motor, I had the motor out the mirror and in my hand and had it running back and forth, grease all the mech and bearings up fitted it back together and nada

My suspicions are a broken wire is causing the lack of movement now, I'll too pee'd off to strip it all again so I'll leave it for a while and solder some new wires in when it really bugs me

Dissected mirror

All nicely assembled waiting for the clip to be put back on for the spring.

Hi burnzy,

How did you manage to decompress that spring to be able to reach the motor that activates the folding? I'm stuck at this stage. I can't reach the folding motor on the right side mirror which folds only at certain moments and goes slower than the one on the left. Also, when the car closes automatically and I have activated the function of folding the mirrors, sometimes it makes a strange noise(like buzzing) that can be heard in the same door (right side) where the folding does not always work.

Did you find a special tool to do the job?
