Default #Rusty Jaguar XJ40 - New reg is on! E 4OXJ

Well as most of you know I not long ago had a near fatal car crash which has left me pretty smashed up, I can't go forever without driving and got to watch the pennies also as I self employed mechanic in my own garage which now has zero income.

I have one foot that has healed to a degree I can stand on it for short periods and use a peddle.

So, automatic it as! Never owned an automatic car, even my last BMW I went to edge of Briton to find a manual version.

So I've spent a MASSIVE £350 on a old school Jag.

I thinking retro cool and low and slow

Pipe slippers and hat... or... Sheep skin jacket and cigar?

Wife hates it and wants it off of the drive and burnt asap! But I don't care

Got a lot of car for your money there! Good to see you back behind the wheel already. Now just don't get it wet or it will be a pile of brown dust by the morning

Amazed at the amount of love this old Jag has got form all my pals and everyone I know on Facebook!

But I'm fucked now, it started snowing

It needs tyred but cant get um cheap, as there metric stupid size that were only made for this model and the Rover SD1.

So I'm having to change the wheels already but got a cheap £60 BMW set of a mate with tyres to chuck on soon as snows gone away.

I wont be using it properly untill my foots totaly up to it but it'll be sat there teady for when I can just get in and go.

It gives me a bit of optimisum seeing it sat there, even if the wife detests it

I've had 3-4 of these mate, all 4.0l and they were bomb proof, seriously comfortable and actually a really under rated all rounder. Next time your mate is in it get him to do an emergency stop... you will be amazed at how well they do it considering how heavy they are.

Used to drive too and from Portsmouth a lot early in the morning and would just set the cruise control to 120 and sit in silence for the next 40 mins until home, never missed a beat until I hit a dead fox one morning.... that was quite scary!

Enjoy it!! ps lowering them ruins them a bit...

EDIT, I might have a box of bits at the back of my garage somewhere for these with all sorts of random spares and quad headlights... If you need anything give me a shout and I'll start digging! Pretty sure i didn't chuck it all away.....

Nice buy for the money, that last picture of the lowered modded one looks nice.

I'm driving auto for the first time in years (i've had a few but never done serious milage in them) I like it....but I don't trust the autobox as far as I can throw it, I just expect it to go wrong and cost more than a easy clutch or box swap would.

Actually a cool car.

My jeeps auto. I love it! Especially in stop start traffic.

How long will it be till you stamp on the brake peddle thinking its s clutch

I did that a few times.

I'm up for the auto nonsense having owned one before they're great for a daily, but if you didn't get it so cheap (what it's worth) I'd be with your wife to get it of the drive.
Hope you're driving and earning soon.

For daily running about, Auto is the way to go!

Quite a rear old car you've got there, and the price is amazing, considering what people ask for old cars from that era now days

Love an xj40, Ive had 3 of them now. Out of all the engines I found the 3.2 the best, thought the 4 litre was shit.

Here's a pic of my last one on x308 Daimler super eight wheels

That car did well, put up with the fact I completely neglected it. 23,000 miles, burnouts and general abuse and never changed the oil in all that time!

Now I've gone posh and bought £250 worth of x308 4.0 v8, black with black leather and bought new by Billie piper.
