Swapping bell housing on frs box to fit cvh
Hi guys hoping for a little help before I order some parts. I'm wanting to fit a mk1 frs box to my cvh. As you know the started is at the back on the frs box - Can someone confirm that I can use the bell housing off another mtx box to relocate the started position?
Also what clutch / flywheel
Thanks

As for clutch, going to be a mash up, I'd go for a frs flywheel and use a sach frs clutch. Might need a little work to clear bell housing, but very minimal.
You could use a starter housing cut from another bell housing (the CVH B5 gearbox for example) then using the gearbox sandwich plate on the CVH use this to line the housing up on the MTX box and weld it in place.
The only reason why I mention this is because it was the way I used the ib5 box in the Ka with the frst engine. The Ka starter is on the back and the CVH needed it on the front, this was the quickest and easiest way of get the starter in the right place without messing about with taking the box apart.
What I don't know is if you could then use the CVH flywheel and suitable clutch and if the input shaft on the MTX box would fit the clutch?

I think a mk2 mondeo 1.8 or 2.0 diesel bell would go straight on but would like someone to confirm this. It would be great if I could stay mechanical speedo as think that housings are. They are hydraulic clutch anyway which suits me as clutch conversion seems easy to do
