Saying that I have only used the 3dr once since Ford Fair and the Greenhouse a few times since Tony set it up. Not even seen a Rolling Road for years lol

From the title I thought your sierra had ploughed through a greenhouse, pleased to find out it was much less dramatic. I taxed MOT'd and insured one of mine last year and the only trip it made was too and from the MOT station, complete waste of money but I had intentions to use it.

 

My pug Cossie has a 3rd mot coming upon my ownership, it seems to do about 100 miles per mot instead of per gallon.

It will get used a lot though.

Effort is often needed to use these old cars

 

The sapphire will go that way in a few days time, as wont belong before the gritters come out!

Still have managed about 1200 miles this year, which aint bad, as thats about 1/5 of my annual milage.

I aint had a Sierra on the road now for 3 years

 

under 6k miles in last 10 years & 50k in 19 years.

 

I've done over 8k miles in my Lambo in less than a year

 

That is how its done!

I've did just over 1000 miles in mine this year wish it was more but working away a lot, I try to get out a good run every weekend and do a few hundred miles

 

Im still using mine. It wont be long till its asleep in my garage though.

 

I'm a drama queen lol.


The Greenhouse is my 4i.


Just checked the 4i and it has done all of 722 miles this year.


Still got both, 4i is a keeper not so sure about the 3dr.


Mine are both tucked up in the garage.


Need to change the wheels over on the 3dr to store it.

I've managed over 2000 miles in the sapphire. 1200 of those was all in one week going down to Simply Ford. Will still keep it taxed over the winter and use it if the weather is nice and the roads aren't too mucky.

 

But I'm pretty sure 7995 of then were when you went touring with Lee

Mind you, when I saw you were using the Escos as a daily I'm really not surprised at all

Just to add to those who don't use their cars, I've not used the Mondeo since ford fair

 

I keep mine taxed and insured all year round, it still goes out in Winter, you just have to pick your days when the roads are not salted. I love the way it goes on a very cold day, free extra bhp!!

Mines taxed all year round and take it out on nice days when no salt about, the thing bloody flies in the cold dense air

 

Well that didnt last sorn'd on the 31st Oct, re-taxed on the 6th Nov, my dailys currently out of action, a small glitch!


So have used the sapphire for my commute all week, had to be when im on days didn't it! The AP clutch is a right PITA crawling in traffic, only 7 miles tho so not too bad!


The weathers still pretty decent tho, no sign of any gritting any time soon,

My saff's still being used every day did 160 miles! on GP trackday the other week.
As soon as any sign of salt will be tucked away till next spring
Next fun thing will be sking in January once we get bloody Christmas out of the way

got it booked in for a MOT monday tho, and hopefully (bodge) fix it sunday, with some leds fitted in the dash bits, piggy backed off the bulbs!

 

Have you got the hydraulic clutch conversion? I have found it makes crawling along in traffic much easier compared to the original cable operation.

 

I taxed mine again. why i dont know i hardly use it

 

Mine's in bed for the winter,sitting turboless just now until I decide what I want to do with it.

T34 for more power or rebuild the T3 and keep it about 300.First world problems and all that

 

So many pussies on here, they do wash FFS

 

they also rust quite quickly once the grits out!

remember we are talking about 80s Ford's!

 

Done about 500 miles in the S1 this year I think....be going in the CarCoon very soon until next April

 

I hate washing it so don't use it so it can't get dirty lol

Defo agree we spend a small fortune getting our cars bodywork nice we dont wanna waste it by risking the fookers rusting.

 

Agreed, I dont use any of my nice cars once the gritting lorry has been out. Its not just the bodywork though, all the non coated components open to the elements suffer too, salt is a menace.

 

Ive used my saff through the winter years ago and the back arches were a mess by the time spring came.

Im lucky that i can now afford to have a daily run around.

 

As I have said Glenn you have to pick your days in winter and be sensible.Mine will be used this winter but a lot less than in the summer. It hasnt rusted yet in my 21 years of owning it and hopefully it will stay that way!
The 70s, 80s and 90s Fords certainly were prone to rust as they had virtually no anti-rust protection. When I lived in Australia I went to look at the brand new MK2 RS 2000 Escorts which were on show at a local Ford dealer in Adelaide and I remember being shocked when I looked underneath and there was already rust spots showing up!!
