Default M601 BLM doing the rounds again

My old escort cossie. She's had a lot of action in its life. Google m601 blm and you'll see. Still amazes me how it still gets forgotten to be added to the adverts.

Looks like the car was rolled and badly repaired? Is it on the HPI?

True. Here goes. There is not one original panel on that car! All panels that have been replaced are second hand and badly welded in position. The front wings are non-cosworth and have fibreglass arches moulded on. The roof is red underneath and has been joined through the top of the 1/4 panels and 'B' pillers with a direct cut and not staggered this means the middle sections (which can not be seen) are not welded!!! The dash board is out of shape on the n/s this is damage from the screen piller as it was pushed into the dash in the accident, the chassis number on the dash is missing as a result. The inner and outer 1/4 panels have been replaced on both sides to a very poor standard. Poor panel gaps all over. Not only has it been badly repaired but it's very rotten as a result! The 4x4 prop was fouling the body at certain rpm. There was damage to the floor too. I told the owner at the time about the state of the body and he sold it shortly after for around Ł5k back in 2011. I can not stress how dangerous this car is! It should not be on the road. I'd hate for anyone to risk their live and hard earn money on such a reck.

You just pray that anybody looking to spend that cash on an old legendry icon is taking someone that knows these cars inside out to inspect it anyway or the buyer has more money than sense.

from the sounds of the condition of it the seller must know somethings bad with it and yet chooses to carry on asking top dollar

Hopefully with this thread and the others a potential buyer will google the reg and find out before losing out.

This fella knows what he's talking about. I knew a lot of the above when I bought it but I was only 20 and it was cheap so bought it and made it look pretty and drove it for a while. It has been smashed to bits at some point in its life and I can't believe it's still going.

I assume it was badly rolled at some point and repaired using whatever they could find but it has been repaired poorly as stated and I wouldn't want to be in it if happened again.

There's a thread on here with me and the owner talking about it as he took the guy to court and then I bought it from him for 5k I think. I was the kiddy back then at 20 so didn't really give a shit it was a lemon lol.

That's the only way to sort it Glenn. I've been a panel beater in accident repair and restoration for 18 years and this is one of the worst repaired cars I've seen. From 50 yards it looks fine but get within 50 inches and alarm bells ring lol.

It was beyond making 100% but we did tidy it right up. Prob is with it being welded through the pillars etc it always going to be a lemon. I was happy with it but it owed me peanuts and I was 20 lol. Back then rs scene wasn't like it is now and it was just an old escort.

I see the guy selling it is an mot station by the mot tester pics in the background. Prob found out everyone knew and took it off eBay? Wouldn't want that coming back to my business especially if I owned an mot station!

The older it gets the more acceptable the issues will be, most mk1 and 2 escorts have had every other panel replaced by now, even mk4 escorts are going that way
