Last night, I saw mike tell a guy that he was going to offer a guy £2750 fit a car that was on eBay and had already been bid £3400
That's not how things work
Then I find out the guy bought it back!!!!??
Fuck that shit

I watched one online the other day, where they built an Escort rally car, probably from a couple of years ago.
Early in the show they talked about the fact it had the proper RS2000 engine, carb and exhaust etc. They showed the engine at the end and it had suddenly gained twin carbs and an aftermarket manifold. Did they mention that when they worked out their profit? Did they fuck.
But then I also remember in one of the very early ones, where they did the 205 GTI. There was blue smoke pouring out of the back of it and they claimed it was because of a faulty gear linkage.
It was shit when it started, and remains shit to this day

they dont mke profit on anything if you count ed's labour .
sierra cossie episode, mike got robbed in the ford shop for his escos alloys. cant be that clever if he didnt know he got his pants pulled down... bet the guy in the shop was laughing when mike left.lol
audi tt.. subaru impreza facelift, bond bug, some of the cars they do are just your average road scrap. Be a bit more watchable if they actually did interesting cars up.
another thing is find funny, mike always bids people bottom dollar, and give it the 'it needs this, it needs tha doing'... and when he sells it, if he gets an offer a few hundred quid off his asking price.. he gets his tits in a twist and gets all sarcastic to the potential buyer lol. bellend.

i see what the seller was thinking when he sold it for less than bidding price ...you win the bid turn up to collect car is not as described then they beat you or down walk away, so you have the hassle of relisting all over again ...

I like ed China he seems an alright fella quite knowledgeable too. I don't take it seriously it's just good to see cars that I like make it on TV like Sierra cosworth and Subaru Impreza regardless of how hideous they turn out to be lol.

I enjoy it...yes it is daft and the numbers do not work but it got me back in to doing up cars. The media is full of tosh, it is only when you understand a topic or know more than average that you can see through all of the crap.
It is the same when anything is on about Financial matter...I am literally shouting at the TV

There's been a few 'sold back to the previous owner'
Makes you wonder if it's maybe someone to do with the production team.
The RX7 was sold back to the old owner and it was incredible money. They did a few nice things but basically stuck some nasty stickers on it, intercooler and remap and the bloke that sold it paid thousands more to have it back.
The old Porsche one, really the bloke probably did ok buying it back. It was knackered sat in his barn. He probably just wanted it back on the road and thought it's a good way to do it. You imagine if he'd sent it off to be restored anywhere else. But again does make you wonder if these people are associates of the show.

Its not real Dojj its entertainment, well to a select few it is, if you follow that lead from the back of your TV you will find a switch, put it to off & your stress/drama over this will go away I promise.

Just watching it now, despite the fact that I now already know the guys buys it back!
Always thought the show was a bit of fun, yes I understand it wouldn't really work as a business model but I like cars and I like seeing them getting fixed up.

but relisting it again isn't the end of the world is it, certainly not worth £400

More like 'sell it to me and you can be on the tv..'
The car has had a fortune spent on restoring it to its present condition. as well as the work done on the show this car has benefited from a complete new roof with glass window ,Mintex Discs and pads all round, complete new clutch 3 piece plus slave, new Honda ECU, all sensors have been replaced with genuine Honda ones, 4 new Honda coil packs and plugs, new track rod ends, full wheel alignment, Diamond cut wheels back to original condition with new tyres all round, new radiator, new condenser (A/C) replacement compressor and recharged A/C.
Nice to see them mention all that on the show. I was a bit surprised that it was just the lambda sensor giving all that grief.

Far more money was spent on the Honda then is shown on the show. That's why I was keen to buy it back. There has been some paintwork done by a local body shop to WD too a very high standard.

da fuck did i just watch?
the engine wasn't running right because someone put a bit of mastic in the filter and it needed a lambda sensor?
wheels AND tyres for £680? £100 each for the rims so thats £70 per tyre?
couldn't see the price of the brakes but their prices are never right
and what was going on with that steering rack?

Dojj, I don't know you but swear i've seen before you are a wrestling fan?? Surely then you would understand that something doesn't have to be 100% real to be entertaining!? I fully appreciate that the show doesn't always show the truth etc etc, but to most of the viewers it would be seriously boring if it was! It's entertainment TV, I think it's great and look forward to every Monday night episode! If you don't like it, don't watch it and critique it.
Just for the record, I think wrestling is wank, but that's why I don't watch it

Just seen the episode, Mike was saying that as the steering was fooked, he wouldn't get that price as the eBay buyer would walk away as it wasn't as described.

If you've ever sold a car on eBay you should no the figure it's at means nothing, 90% of buyers never contact you again.
If someone's stood in front of you with cash do the best deal you can and sell within reason.
I like wheeler dealers, it's about getting cool cars back on the road however the numbers add up, don't take it too seriously.
Seen many an episode with new brakes and tyres fitted and not listed but I guess it's cover for the TV company as safety so they can sell on.
