Default Fitting rear beam with Powerflex bushes

Dear Folks,
I've just spent a couple of hours underneath my 2WD Sapph trying to fit the beam. The diff mounting bolts are in, but not torqued, and the outer ends of the beam are supported on wooden blocks. The problem is that the Powerflex beam bushes seem to be around half an inch longer than the original rubber ones, so that even without the mounting plate and washer, the threaded end of the large bolt barely reaches the captive nut! Can any of you experts out there tell me where I'm going wrong??

The bush will be compressed when it's all fitted.

To get the bolt in, loosely mount the guide plate with the 2 smaller bolts. Then you can jack up the guide plate at the rear to compress the bush. If you have the jack far enough to the rear there is still room to put the long bolt in and tighten it.
