Anyone else used the Blue polyurethane steering coupler on their Sapphire Cosworth ? My old 1990 original Ford rubber one split apart so the steering was really bad. I have just had the new poly kit fitted and what a difference ! The steering has never felt as good, no play in the wheel at all and steering wheel movement to front wheels moving is exactly the same, like a go-kart!! Well chuffed with it.
One of the best improvements I have had done and would highly recommend it to anyone whose steering feels like its got more play than it should have.

I've just removed my rack today to give it a clean and a paint. Got a set of alloy bushes for it and was thinking of getting one of them too. Good mod then in your opinion

 

Just sharpens it up if your old one was shot.

 

Really good , it has made a big difference in how the steering feels.

 

think I'll get one ordered up I'm trying to up rate everything front to back lol. Was it easy to fit it's hard to work out how the kit go's looking at the eBay add

Found them on eBay, 281412536515 how easy to fit my racks just been rebuilt don't wanna have to remove it all

 

Didn't people have trouble with the poly ones some years ago?
I'm sure the land rover ones are only about 35quid

 

You will need to remove the steering coupling shaft to fit it.

 

I would be suprised if there will be any problems with the Superflex one. It looks really well made.

 

Richard at Tremona Garage fitted it , the only thing he said was he had to fit a couple of washers that the kit didnt have. Took about an hour to fit.

 

ive mine apart now just looking at the picture on eBay I can't see how it go's together with only 4 nuts. Would be good to see a pic

 

 

That's a landrover set up isn't it. Looks the same as a normal Sierra one same rubber type bush. The polly one on eBay has a polly bush two studs and two bolts. 4 nuts and two spacers. Just hard to figure out how it go's together from the pic as the two studs only look threaded on one end?

Got one and fitted it was easy too fit the poly is a lot harder than the original rubber.

 

You will be very pleased with how much sharper it makes the steering feel.

 

Where about does this actually go on the steering rack then is it closer to the steering wheel or the rack itself?

Its in the engine bay bud connects steering rack to the powersteering rack

 

Steering should feel different as I've alloy rack bushes as well. There was a fair amount of wear in the rubber ones!

 

Was under the cossie earlier on and I noticed something abit alarming. I could see that mines already has that polybush installed already so just me being me I gripped the steering Column and gave it a wriggle and there is a lot of up and down movement, about 3-4mm up and down. The column that goes through the bulk head is the part that has lots of play.

I noticed under hard braking my steering wheel shudders like fuck, car has a rebuilt rack, new poly tca's and new track rods so the dodgy movement in my steering is got to be this play I noticed.

Anyone else spotted this and what needs replaced?

 

The column that go's through the bulk head has a plastic tube as such that sits over the column then sits in a rubber bush that sits in the bulk head! There's a bearing a few have used to mod this! Funny enough I'm going to do mine tomorrow if I get time

Brilliant mate, yeah I noticed the plastic tube and rubber gromet going through the bulkhead. Can you take pics as you do it mate and also let me know what you use to replace the bearing? Thanks
