Default Can I run a 4x4 front end with a 2wd gearbox?

Hi Guys

Can I run a 4x4 front end with a 2wd gearbox on my sierra sapphire? I want to do a 4x4 conversion on my 2.9 v6 but in the mean time use a 2wd gearbox until I source a 4x4 box.

Is it possible to run a sierra xr4x4 front end running gear while using a 2wd gearbox RWD drive line and running gear.

Will it cause damage to the front drive line or is it safe?

Cheers

You will have to leave the front cv bolted in the front hubs without shafts or the wheel bearings will flop around.

Okay so like I have the front 4x4 hubs, cv, drive shafts, 4x4 sump and front diff etc. all assembled and bolted in. Will it be fine to run the front diff without being powered by a 4x4 gearbox because the motor will be run by a 2wd box?

You'll have to keep the front shafts in as well or all the oil will leak out of the front diff.
