What polybushes are you guys running on your S2 RS Turbo's? Front end on mine has powerflex bushes all round but the back hasnt yet been done and is very lumpy and knocky. Is a complete set of rear powerflex bushes worth the £230ish price tag? The car is purely for road use.

 

Not all polybushes are made the same .

PowerFlex should be OK but I prefer SuperFlex ; on some cars it has tightened the handling and aided comfort, as a proper poly bush should .

 

Mixture of Powerflex and Flo-flex. The latter being rubbish and thats why I removed and binned some of them.

 

I think it'll have to be powerflex bushes then.

 

I've just tried to fit some flowflex to the rear tie bar, tie bar to chassis were fine but tie bar to wish bone what a ball ach won't be buying any more of them!

 

This issue is very well documented on RSOC. SuperFlex ones or genuine items do fit without issues in this area was the consensus.

 

Think I'll be using them when I redo the underside I felt like I couldn't tighten then too much either as they seemed to speed so much the washer would pull through

 

I'm always amazed at how many people hate and slate flowflex. I've had them fitted 4 years. I'm not a mechanic by trade, but they were really easy to fit and still going strong. I guess the manufacturing process and fitment have gone downhill. Mine were all sleeved and split in half? Mine were impossible to over tighten as the sleeve was larger then the hole in the washer.

never had a problem with flo flex bushes myself, fitted them without any problem to 4 cars now and they're all still going strong

 

Had no issues with Flowflex
Very helpful on the phone, even do the rear top mounts which nobody else does that I know of...

 

That is handy to know . But don't Gaz say to avoid fitting anything other than rubber bushes for the top mounts when going to a coilover conversion?

 

Hello mate,I've replaced about 75% of mine with power flex and it has made a hell of a difference.ive also got koni adjustable shocks and Gmax springs so the ride is spot on.

 

when i posted about the flowflex bushes i had lituraly just spent 3 hours pissing around with them

I can say first hand had the flow flex tie bar to hub are utter crap i rely do not have any confidence in them the rubber and the metal sleeve were not bonded together and the metal sleeve was as least 1mm smaller the than the internal diameter of the bush, the bushes were also massive and didn't seat properly in the hub to the point where i trimmed the edge slightly to get it to fit, all in all a pain the in ares and there the same bushes on the front ARB as well which i also have fitted

It seems it totally depends what you buy from flowflex the tie bar to chassis are perfect, i also have front ARB to chassis again very good fit, i think the round bush with metal center must be difficult for them to replicate cheaply as it would need chemically bonding

there good enough to pass an MOT and some road driving but i defo wont be doing a track day with them fitted as i think there going to pull through

 

4 years ago were they not call deflex? by all accounts it has gone down hill i though id give them the benefit of the doubt but age old mantra buy cheap buy twice

 

I remember fitting my flo-flex. opening the packaging to see the product in cheap zip tie bags was the start. Once i inspected each bush I found the front and rear anti roll bar bushes needed cutting to fit. Powerflex cut theirs from manufacturing. The rear wishbones to hub didn't fit correctly, upon fitting the roadwheels you can rock them side to side. MOT failure, so pulled them out and fi powerflex. All 4 bump stops are powerflex front A/R is powerflex. Was just a matter of removing and binning.

they sell different sized bushes for the outer wishbones as i've seen this problem before on a mates car, flo flex then supplied the correct ones and they fitted fine

 

So many decisions! I have to say flo flex rear top mounts will be a definate as previously said they are the only company to do them. But i am very torn about the others.

 

from the research i did on the rear arms superflex came out slightly cheaper than powerflex for the tie bar bushes but for wishbone bushes power flex were much cheaper,

but the powerflex wishbone bushes have steel collars and all sorts looks a good set up but 90 odd quid verses 50 odd lol

 

superflex seem closest shape to original but like above the wishbone ones cost the most last time I looked the outer ones where £25 each

 

Ford don't do them anymore so no choice tbh...
Seam/ stitched welded shocker tops so I don't see any issues tbh...

If you want to keep costs down I'd mix between the 3 brands TBH

 

Yeah that seems the most sensible option for me.

 

I think they'd just started as flowflex when I bought them.

The sleeve was definitely an interference fit inside the bush. No trimming, they all just fitted. I have a full set front & rear with shock top mounts front and rear and spring tops on the rear too.

I'm one of the lucky ones I guess.

Oh yeah I know that, still crap and was supplied the correct ones. Phoned them up and they sent another i believe. Still didnt fit so popped them where they belong, in the bin and bought Powerflex.

Oh and should add, awful customer service. I got accused over the phone for fitting them wrong and was told if the pack is open i'm on my own. They soon shut up when I told them my mechanic was sitting next to me. Passed the phone over to him, as he wasn't to pleased being told he fit them wrong(basically saying he can't do his job right). They sent the replacement out of good will gesture. Good will gesture my ass.

 

Powerflex all the way, thats what i have on my S1
