Default Float type rods and pin

Hi,

i recently got one set of forged rods and accralite +1mm pistons for my S2.

How is your experience with float type rod+pin+piston installation. Should the pin go to rod small end very easily (using assy lube) and installed by hand or if all parts are new, then some lube + slight pops with rubber hammer is ok while getting the pin in place?

Should the pin move in rod small end easily when all parts are under room temperature or just when engine is under normal working temperature and expanded by heat?

Many thanks in advance,
Vahur.

The floating pin should certainly not require a rubber hammer to go into the piston and small end of the rod.
Has the small end of the rod (bushing) and piston been sized to the pin?
This clearance has to be checked. Too tight will cause trouble, as will too loose.

Pistons from burton and steel rods actually from AliExpress.

I went with the part to a machinist today, they'll work with the small end according to each gudgeon pin + clearence.

So, went well, that the hammer - main tool for Jeremy Clarkson for fixing everything - wasn't used..

hi again,

Small ends machined to 5 microns clearence and pin floats as a charm

does someone know what torque setting should be used for steel rod ARP2000 big end bolts?

Is there something specific or standard torque setting from Haynes manual can be applied?

br,
V.
