Default N/A silvertop zetec tuning

I have a fiesta xr2i 16v (1.8 zetec)

Im picking up a 2.0 solvertop on the weekend.

The aim is 200bhp.

Any advice or comments on a rough spec?

Mate of mine ran following on his 2.0 silvertop:

Jenvey throttle bodies
Piper cams
Head work
4 branch and full Magnex

It made 191bhp on the r/r but tuner suggested fuelling was slightly out, and a bit of tweaking would see 200...

I'd lob in a duratec for the cost of getting a zetec to a 200bhp spec that you'd want to drive on the road. Its not that cheap

It takes quite a bit of work to get 200+bhp out of a zetec, you'll need better pistons and conrods, bolts etc, high lift cams (possibly more than a fast road profile) quite a bit of headwork, maybe using bigger valves, throttle bodies, an ecu to run it all and a good tubular manifold.

use an st170 engine instead......not worth modding a silver top when you have this as a choice.

For a pokey fast road spec Zetec, I'd go Gixxer 1000 bodies, cams, a good 4-2-1 manifold and leave it at that, they get expensive to tune much past that.

As above, a 2.0 Duratec is much easier to make 200 out of.

If i go down the st170 route, do i keep the head with vvt?

And i dont mind spending a bit on cans, carbs with ignition ecu ect..

Would it bolt straight in with the silvertop mounts?

Bike carbs ( mine are mikunis) megajolt ecu and an exhaust, no need to spend big money on a zetec for decent usable power, if it has to be 200 bhp though I'd definitely go for the duratec

This guy managed 220bhp out of a ST170 and still on the standard inlet manifold

Lots of other modifications to get there.

Don't think so. think in was on a MBE ECU.

The head was done my Andrew@ALD and I've seen a standard one next to his head work and loads have been done to the head..

Loads more info on the link I posted
