Worst nightmare, cambelt snapped....
Evening gents, just had a call from my mate who's got a small turbo Escos, it's shat the cambelt doing 30mph up a big hill.

He's asked me to have a look at it for him, so we're going to take the head off at the weekend and see what's what.
What is the likely damage? Or is it impossible to say? Bent valves and fucked guides as a minimum? Are we talking bottom end as well with a possible fucked piston?
I'm fairly handy with a spanner but rebuilding heads is a bit out of my league so will have to get someone to do that.
Any help or advice appreciated.

Other than that, head off/on isn't too bad a job....
Hope it's minimal damage!!

16 bent valves and possibly guides aswell, pistons usually escape with just marks in them, the cambelt snapped on my esc cos when the previous owner had it, I have the repair bill from ford...Ł3000 !! and that was in 2002!

I certainly wouldn't get Ford to rebuild a cossie head.
You can get a complete head from 300 to 2000 depending on spec and then the old head still has a value, if it were me I would rebuild to a better spec or buy a replacement. There was a high spec one on here for 300 which had a slight crack with decent test report, 900 on that would give a repaired high spec head. Look for Gary at RS cosworth breakers on here from Portsmouth.
