Going to look at a escort cabrio tomorrow, any advice?
Going to look at a Ford Escort Cabriolet tomorrow. Only £550 with 6 months MOT and 11 months tax. Its a nice met. blue.
I've always been a vauxhall owner and dont really know what specifics to look out for on a ford
I've been speaking with him, says the roof is in good condition. The only things wrong with it are the drivers e/window doesnt go up to the top - leaves about a 1" gap, there is a crack in the windscreen, and it has an idling problem.
On the plus side, it has nice alloys, its the 1991 facelift model with the lower insurance 1.6i EFI engine, low mileage, and the tax on its own is worth £160!
What should I be looking out for on it though?? I heard if an EFI engine develops an idling problem this isnt cheap to fix

normally blocked breathers/air leaks or idle speed control valve. a complete new engine for about 50-100 quid in the breakers if the engines knackered!
all cvh's tap a little...
look for rust as most rot bad.
other than that its still over 20 years old... aint going to be perfect
