Hi there and welcome to passionford! It might be easyer to drop in a zetec turbo as many people have built a zetec turbo so you might get more info! Get some pic's up of your car!

Kind regards sam!

As above. It's cheaper and more efficient with a ZT. The 1.7 SE can be done but there's no telling how long it'll last and wear on the nicasil liners will increase. The SE Zetec are basically a throw away unit so build on a proven reliable base

It seems to be easier to get the part off the shelf to turbo a 1.6 than the 1.7
As in time I will be looking into doing one
Just going to try some things and see how it holds together , it's for a light weight car hence
Using the se engine

There is a thread on here where a bloke turbo,d one in a kit car and got 330hp if I remember right

off the shelf kits for a 1.6 turbo / zetec-se engine from a mk5 fiesta, costs about £3500. and you wont even see 200bhp...

100% of the time id say get a 2.0 zetec engine and turbo that. Or follow Karlos' guide on here for the turbo conversion using the st170 bottom end st170 valves springs in a blacktop head an a 1.8mm focus rs headgasket.

Much better gains for less, or the same kind of price.

The weight of a 2.0 Zetec in a Puma is daft, they're built to do corners.

True but they still corner well with a ZT upfront
