People clued up on insurance claims after a car park bump
Just looking for a bit of advice for my brother as today in a car park, himself and another car had a bump while both vehicles were reversing. It appears to of been both of them at fault as they were reversing out of a parking space opposite each other and bumped half way.
They swapped details but didn't actually discuss what they wanted to do while at the scene but said they would call one another later on. Her car which is a mk5 Astra i believe had a smashed rear lense, scrapes to the rear bumper and a bit of a dent aswell as coming away from the body.
My brothers car which is a mk2 Orion which we have been restoring over the past few year has probably came off the worst between the two which a smashed rear lense, smashed bumper and a dent on the rear quarter above the light.
He would of preferred to of avoided insurance due to risk of his car being wrote off and just paying for repairs since both parties were at fault but it seems like the other person wants to go through insurance when my brother had called her. He had explained to her why he would of preferred to of avoided insurance due to the cars age etc she said she would of rang her insurance company to see how the would handle the claim and get back in touch with him, so far she hasn't got in touch.
So just wondering what other people have done when they have been in this situation as obviously he doesn't want to lose the car. It was only a few month ago while the car was parked at Ford that a delivery driver crashed in to the back of it smashing the opposite light and side of the bumper which at the time they were wanting to write the car off but got it repaired but now the opposite side.
Thanks in advance for any help.

i had assesors today inspect my w-reg focus (its a T230) but i came out with a folder worth of paper work bills etc...you just have to keep the assesors happy as they will give the 'go ahead' for repairs once they are satisfied the cars worth it...
