Default Mondeo Mk3 115 TDCI (53) ABS Fault

Hi there,

I'm having a problem with the ABS on my Mondeo Mk3 115 TDCI. The ABS Light comes on intermittently. Sometimes I start the car and its on sometimes it's off. It also seems that when the light is off the ABS works and when the fault light is on ABS doesn't function. Does anyone know what component might be failing or what I can do to fix this.

Many thanks

Adam

I would start by having the codes read from the ABS system.

It probably a wheel sensor. Easy and cheap enough to do yourself but you will need to know what sensor has gone down first. F Super diagnostics (ebay) works well and reads abs codes.

Check your engine mount. On two cars (one being a Mondeo V6) I have had this issue. The lower mounts were well and truly shot though (to the point where I could rock the engine with only one hand on it!).

Wheel sensor is a great shout. Intermittent faults however are a pain to sort out.
