Default Unable to select any gears

Just had to tow my son home in his MK1 FRS.

He's unable to select any gears at all. He said he wasn't caning it, he just went to change into second and then just couldn't select anything.

The gear lever just seems to move about aimlessly, the cables are moving at the gearbox end and I can see the top one is moving some sort of arm on top of the gearbox. Can't see what the bottom one's doing, other than the cable goes in and out. Neither cable feels like it's come adrift so what could the problem be?

Any ideas anyone?

Won't let me view that without signing up. I'm guessing its something to do with the selector and a sheered bolt?

The transits that use the Mtx75 used to sheer a bolt on the selector unit. You have to remove the selector to get at it. If memory serves me correctly the focus' uses a roll pin. Fairly simple job unless it's dropped into the box

yes, that's the upshot of it Mark. The rollpin fractures and stops the selector working.

just trying to ascertain the exact size required (32x6mm has been suggested), and then try and source one. Hopefully we can get hold of one before the weekend and get it sorted out on saturday morning
