having melted piston number 4 I have fitted a rebuilt engine, however I want to know wether the turbo (that was fitted on previous engine) may be contaminated with bits of molten alloy? the piston melted due to sustained high speed run (fuelling must have gone out of wack) mfi. im in the procces of bolting everything up and wanted to be sure before I start the motor and have it set up, cheers

yea that's the plan mate, a wise investment. esp with the sometimes unreliable mfi. just a bit concerned about the turbo been contaminated as I will be using the same turbo on a fresh engine
If the piston did eject any metal into the turbo this would surely only be in the hot side and either damage the turbine wheel or go out the exhaust?
Maybe take the exhaust elbow off and have a peak?

yea I think ill have a look. its just some white speckles in the turbo manifold where it bolts up to the exhaust headers has got me paranoid but im hoping there just ash deposits or something as it got very hot.
