Default Mondeo ST220 estate?

Evening all I'm looking at getting one of these as having a 2nd child so really could use an estate.

Anyone had one or know of any common problems with them I know the dispels have injector problems and the hatchbacks have rear suspension issues but can't find much on estates.

Also does anyone know how many there actually is as I'm not finding a great deal of estates around.

I had one as a work car. Great but awful on fuel circa 18 mpg and 220 miles to a tank. The wheels buckle at the drop of a hat and the clutch went on my one at about 100k but have no idea what it cost to repair. Nice quick motors but not that torquey when loaded up.

I have a st tdci as my private car and prefer it to be honest as 45 to 55 mpg and about 550 miles to a tank. Only 155 bhp but don't feel slow and with 295lbft they pull like a train. Had a broken spring, new exhaust, wheel bearing and think that's about it in 3 years and 35k miles.

I'd personally go diesel but the petrol ones are cheap to buy at be moment.

I had a 220 hatch. Bought it on 115k, put 30k on it in a year and it only needed an ABS sensor in that time.

Mine did a lot of dual carriageway miles and averaged about 27mpg.

Bloody brilliant cars in my view. Look good, sound great, go well enough, reliable, and the way they drive is excellent.

I'd have another one tomorrow.

I've heard bad things about the diesels though with fuel rails and injectors being common problems on them. Not too fussed about mpg I'm currently in a vectra sri and only hitting late 20s round town so nearly there.

Anyone know why estates are so rare though as well I'm ideally after one of them.

dont know about the 220, but ive got a 2.5 ghia x. done 126k when i got it now on 135k. all in 4 months with no issues at all, and gives 29+mpg.
my only gripe is the tyre noise from the 18" wheels. reasonably quick, very comfortable and easy to drive. wish i'd got one years ago.
