Hi, I'm thinking of parting with my Cosworth. Its a (G) Sapphire, in Moonstone Blue, It has a genuine 47k with a full Ford history and every MOT to back it up.

Logbook states 0 Previous owners as it's been owned since Brand new.

It's completely standard and Has the Leather Recaro's.

It's been in the garage the last 8 years. However 3 months ago I had a genuine ford Cambelt kit fitted and service kit (minus the fuel filter as it took 10 days to arrive) - However I will book for this to be fitted as I now have it here.

I had new discs and pads replaced all round, and Brand new Continentals fitted all round, still have the tags on. It's moved 1/2 a mile since.

I had some correspondence with Bonhams to put into a sale in Oxford, however I have never tried to sell this before. Given the information and pictures I sent over their valuation was quite big (£15-18k), however it seems a bit of hassle if it doesn't sell.

It was sprayed with waste oil underneath every year it was on the road. Condition wise people always seem to be a bit amazed.

I'd be looking for between £10-12k dependent upon the variants of the deal. However it is a standard car. I'm not sure if this interests you at all. If so PM me and we could talk more.

Drizzie,
pictures of body, engine, engine bay and underside will give you a massive audience if you are a genuine seller.

forgive my ignorance, but a Sapphire like this is indeed worth the thick end of £15k to the right person.

what is the actual Sapphire specs?
2wd? Cloth? Leather? Standard?

very much looking forward to a reply,

Sean

yes sounds very much a £15k car-dont give it away for 10k-some of the dealers are selling very average cars for over 10k atm
it certainly sounds above the norm

Agree with you, its worth a lot more than £10 to £12k if its as good as he says it is.Seems a bit strange to me that he is willing to sell it so cheap?

I'm aware the car is circa a £15k car. I had exchanged a few emails and calls with Bonhams about popping it into an Oxford auction they have. I have the emails confirming their interest.

Estimation on the phone is £15-£18k based on the last one, which is similar in terms of mileage (£18,960). However they charge 10%+Vat and £250+vat entry fee's. I also have to deliver it. - Hence why I priced it at £10-12k.

I understand possible skepticism, I'm sure the first person to see will buy it, and it has never been offered up for sale anywhere other than this thread. I have become a member on the RS Owners club.

All advice is welcome and will be taken on board. I'm not intending to be greedy, if there's mileage for someone to make some money on the car then excellent, If I achieved somewhere in the higher end of the scale I'd be delighted.

I'm in Suffolk, the car is very genuine car. Any genuine buyer is welcome to view the Cosworth.

They are fun with over 400 bhp thats for sure. I have never driven a standard one but I guess it would seem pretty slow compared to mine. Maybe consider getting one with a good, non rusty body but with a standard or knackered engine and rebuild the engine to how you want it?
The other thing I would advise you to do is make sure if you get one already modified that there is proof of whats been done and who did it.
I have owned mine for nearly 20 years and have all the history and paperwork of whats been done to it so anyone could see its genuine.
Keep looking , there will be one somewhere!

Yeah it's a shame tho none of them are good spec the two expensive ones are standard and from traders. 11k for a standard one on 75k miles it's been on ebay for ages and the rest of them all have leather which I hate and there all dogs
