Default G Reg Escort RS Turbo Restoration

Hi Everyone. Got my escort in the garage now and started stripping everything off to inspect it for rust. Found quite a bit but wasn't expecting it to be mint. Hoping to start getting the rust removed and treated/replacing panels.

Got a few pictures from around the car of the main rust points.

Having stripped the car it's obvious that it's been used as a track car at some point. Under the carpet was checker plate glued into the driver's foot well. It was sat on koni adjustable dampers, with the shortest hardest springs ever. The spare was a well worn track style tyre as well.

It's been previously maintained with a less than sympathetic attitude. These were the brake pads when i removed them.

As you can see only part of the pad has worn so I assume the wrong diameter disc have been used.

A couple of cheap mint shells out there. I'd resell that.

Is the last three letters of the reg yoo as my mate had one with bad rot in similar places.
Fair play to you for attempting to repair it.

Unfortunately I live on the north coast of scotland so getting shells up isn't going to be the easiest or cheapest.

As for the repairs I think I'll be a fairly competent welder by the end of it.
