I was in 3rd and just over taking a car at reasonable speed not booting it and pop thought prop had gone as was on way out but had that changed today and box is still clanking in neutral on tick over
Not sure if it's transfer box

Under load in 3rd is when they are prone to go or so I've been told as it's the weakest gear. What sort of power or more importantly torque is it running?

Unless you want to spend big bucks I'd personally get the standard box rebuilt as it could last another good few years especially if you don't hoon it everywhere

This is it Ive seen box's go coming off a roundabout at 50 and then puled a little in third and gone but if dean hasnt got the cash to do a bigger box then thats it ! I made sacrifices to get my box in the engine bay which is like a dump suffered but hopefully I wont be changing a box anytime soon , but if i was in his position I would just get this on fixed and get saving as it will go again and again so by the time you work out cost to do so the 2.5k will be a cheaper option

too true mate; ive seen one go cruising in third.

Dean - if you havent got the cash now, find a cheap 2nd hand one and get saving for a fit & forget box
