Default 2001 MK2 Mondeo?

Evening all!

A dealer near to me has a 1 owner 1.8 Mondeo Verona on a X plate with 64k on the clock and FFSH along with MOT until Jan 2015 and tax until end of Dec 2014 for £1495.

It is described as being in superb condition and as I only do around 7k miles a year at the very most, do you think this would last a few years without too much bother and big bills involved.

I know it wouldn't be a rocket ship, but it might look good if it was lowered a little and with different alloys fitted! What do you all think?

Cheers all

HI mate had a few Mondeo's now, I found the 1,8 a little sluggish IMHO, 1495 is a bit tall for the car even if its mint! Verona aint got much mod cons was like a L on older fords, You should be able to find a Ghia or ST for that money mind you but in answer to your question they are quite reliable cars lol, Clutches are a problem if they need done as the subframes can need dropped etc.

the verona has less spec than a LX but has no rear head rests and front fog lamps unlike the rest of the 2000 facelift versions and they have boring multi spoke wheels.
As said above the 1.8 115ps zetec is a tad on the slow side.

Verona looks boring as sin, even lowered it will still look lame IMHO. The st/zetec s kit sets them off. £1495 is stupid money for it regardless of condition, mileage etc.. That would see you in an st220!

Should be reasonably problem free. Common problems like most fords are bottom arms. Clutch is a pricey job as above as it needs the subframe dropping.

forgotten to add. Most of the "2000" facelift cars also had discs on the rear even a 1.8td! But the verona come with the basic drums.

A "2000" facelift can be spotted by no chrome on the front grille or tailgate trim, colour coded door strips and a black decal on the b post between the windows. They come with 15" wheels unless the spec denoted 16" alloys (not st200)
Seats in the rear.came with 2/3 headrest depending on spec (not verona) and drivers seat had electric height adjust (verona had early manual tilt) there is a few other things like front fog lamps rear arm rest in the centre

Not a chance I'd spunk 1500 on a MK2 Mondeo unless it was a very good ST200.
