Default 02 KA Headlights go out when braking

My daughter has an 02 KA that has developed a problem with the headlights. Whenever she brakes the dipped headlights go out and don't come back on again whilst she is driving. However, when she starts the ignition the next time, they work again, until she brakes. And so the cycle continues.

Does anyone have any idea in the slightest what the problem may be. We're thinking something in the relay, but where the heck is that?

Its driving us all insane as she works late into the evening and is stropping around on trains late at night rather than get stranded with the car.

I would check that all the rear bulbs are of the correct type as a starting point.

Rear brake light bulbs as said

Remove them, turn then through 180 degrees, refit

Sometimes the contacts cause issues like this of they have been fitted the "wrong" way around our of the wrong bulbs have been fitted in the first place

Easy fix if that's the case
