Default T3 turbo downpipe sealing issue

Hi I have a magnex system on my series 2 and im having alot of problems getting the downpipe to turbo elbow joint to seal. I no there is no gasket between the two and paste is a no go so how can I get it to seal correctly? Is it possible to somehow convert to the v-band type fittings? I have a flexi in the system so I no this cant be causing it. Also noticed there's no springs between the studs on the elbow and the fitting on the downpipe is this normal or should I have springs between the two? Sorry to dribble on but this has been pissing me off for some time now. Cheers.

I would think the only thing stopping it sealing would be if its misaligned or distortion to the flange itself?

Are magnex still going? Was thinking the flange could have gone distorted or oval

Having exactly the same problem with a Magnex. The cars not been used for years so hoping it's maybe just a build up of carbon/crud that can be cleaned of to make it seat properly. The rest of the exhaust is of my car so can't see how it can be misalignment.
