Once again our fantastic Summer weather put a dampener on someone's hard work, how can you burn to death one day and then drown the next

Felt really sorry for Sion as he's been planning this Event for months
Got chance to put faces to names though, non of them were what I expected. Rod is a Petrolhead version of Ronnie Corbett, I expected Chip to be a big meathead but what a pleasant lad and his wife and Sion is probably the same age as my eldest son and not old like I thought.
Nice to meet you all

Well the weather was shocking, the turn out was mediocre but by 2 the sun was out, track was dry and a cunning plan had brewed. Rod opened the the competition up to all fords to which the outcome was...................
Wenny!

But to those who turned up thank you very much for you travelling so far and I can only apologies for the outcome of the day. Great to meet Helen, Ian, Chip and his wife, Cossietaff, Bram and little Bram (sorry I didn't have much time), Sinbad and of course Mr and Mrs Tarry. Thanks to Wenny for coming as he had other plans, RST club and Yorkshire & Humber STOC for coming along also.
With thoughts towards a next year? I'll be very happy to organise again with more input from our members and more cooperation from "sponsors". We have access to the same pit location again if we wish, depending on numbers etc.
Different date and a bigger budget next year is needed so we shall start planning again.
I did learn one mahoosive lesson today! Whatever the track management says DONT LISTEN! It's the complete opposite of what they says going to happen

If 1PD and everyone else would like us to keep it on I'm more than happy to go a head with further years as us up north have no events as such and this is my goal tbh. York still want us for a 5 year deal so it seems stupid to not carry on pushing this as potentially it's brilliant. Cossiehelen also volunteered herself to do ALL of the hard work and let me relax next year

Everyone seemed to be making the most of it, a few good runs just thought it was a little overcrowded for the rwyb people, would have loved to take the series 1 down but the clutch is shot on any sort of boost, there seems to be a lot to come from the white s2 that was there if they could pilot it better, everyone I met was great and helpful and some lovely cars were out
Definitely go again though did feel a few more fords could have attended
Well done for organising it I enjoyed the day out

David I never got to meet you sorry bout that! I did see your S1 and did go looking for you to ask if you were running. The white S2 is owned by my mate Mark, it's running a ST170 turbo, he just got it mapped for the day roughly and was having gearbox problems. It was his brother who was driving also

Hopefully we can build on this year and get a regular competition going year on year with maybe a few trophies with each years winners on etc

I'm a bit gutted I missed it to be honest but I had other commitments. I would've only been there to put names to faces though rather than running as my car is off the road

, did try ringing you earlier to tell you this but got voicemail
Yeah I think it should defo be a yearly event, we really enjoyed it just shame about the weather made it hard for people to get grip.
My bro's best time of the day was a 13.6
Was also nice to meet some new people everyone seemed to make a real effort well done to the organiser

next year with the new gearbox in And traction control wired it will see some abuse,
Yes I was speaking to them throughout and were having a few issues a decent set of lads, it's not the first time I've seen it as it was being mapped at the same place as mine, though tony the mapper told me he couldn't keep a reading on the rollers and is approx in the region of 550hp
Shame because the lads were really trying and you can see when it goes it's gonna shift
Definitely attend next year and will 100% be running with the new focus Rs gearbox fitted

We really enjoyed the day after driving thru so much rain on the way down we were unsure how the day would go! But glad we stuck to our plans as the sun came out and was red hot by the end of the day! I will say we will be there again next year and will defo bring the Cossie too!
I enjoyed watching all the cars on the strip and quite enjoyed seeing the bikes go up the strip too

Well Done to Wenny too
Sad there's no pictures of my car
but was good day after the rain. Seen some nice people through out the day. We couldn't put any good times down for some reason or other but started to get better by end of the day. Hope to see more there next time.
Aside from the morning rain it turned out to be a really good day and by mid afternoon it was 20+ degrees and sunny. Got to meet some great people and saw some good runs up the strip once its began to dry out and warm up.
Its a shame that more Fords and PF'ers didnt turn up but the rain on the morning will surely have put some folk off and there was also a couple of other shows happening not too far away too. Despite that, I think it was a very good day and has great potential to become a much bigger event and something for us lot up here, and everyone else, to attend on a yearly basis all being well.

The area set aside for PF was huge, so certainly plenty of room for a lot more next time.
Hope the event takes off as although York is a bit of a run down venue its got a good atmosphere and everyone always seems to enjoy themself.
Cant see pod letting a couple of people do a burnout into a 180 drift round and then burnout back towards the startline for example like a couple of cars did for a laugh yesterday.
Was a bit of a shame that more of the northerners who all moan the events are all down south didnt get on board though!
See you next year no doubt

Would have loved to come to this but unfortunately had other family activities on last weekend.
Hopefully next year, and well done to all those that put effort into the event

I would of loved to of been there too but me and the mrs spent a fortune on our holiday this year and we also have the wifes 30th birthday party to pay for and also a suprise birthday party for the mother in law to pay for too. If i had the spare cash for fuel and to get in i would of been there. Was the pf stand big then.

I might be wrong but maybe 20 cars supported Sion work Glenn which given the amount of notice and effort he put in is quite poor.
Rod had to offer the Trophy to the RWYB boys as I was the only Cosworth and wouldn't run, not going to take the blokes money on a one car shoot out

20 cars isn't bad is it.
I take it wennys escort was the fastest. Its an impressive car.Im sure ive heard somewhere or that wenny has told me that his escort performs better at York than it does the pod.

Im not a person that will go with the grain as there is no reward for an easy ride. PF get more turnouts down south because theres a bigger following down south. Plus they have been going on year after year. The only reason RSOC gets as many attending is down to 2 things, 1. They are enthusiastic about their RS's and 2. They are scared to death to miss out on anything their membership has value towards after paying the cost.
I actually have a lot of respect for the RSOC as its constructed very well, the problem that will arise soon is that the structure of it is outdated.
This brings me to the challenge that myself 1-PD and many others have spoke about. How to change a stale scene!? I respect Rod hugely as even he has said the exact same and for a man that hasn't bothered with a show in 10 years to be remotely interested speaks volumes and that alone says something is attention grabbing. Whether or not Rod had to open up the competition and whether or not Cossies turned up is irrelevant to the fact that we managed to get support from the biggest names on the forum.
Then we go back to the main point about this Event, the PF members. What would they like to see? when would they like it to be held? Who would they like to sponsor? This was never about 1 bloke putting on a show. It was about PF members. But we cant make people turn up.

Few more pics from my camera btw

It can only be your shout Sion as it's you that's putting all the work in. Folk can promise the earth on a forum but Bums on Seats is the only thing that matters mate.
Been let down so many times by folk in the RSOC, that I just look after those I can trust now.

But its all in the planning and fine detail. im glad that we held back with this year. But we have a basis and can work with what we know.
If you want to do it again, go for it
Utmost respect for arranging this, as should be given to anyone that puts effort in to an event. It's negative critics that piss me off, although there has only been positive feedback on this event that I have seen.
It will always be the same loads of people will be up for it in principle, but when reality kicks in, numbers dwindle it's just the way it is.
Stick with it.

Can i say that both myself & Annie had a great 4 days up North. We Understood most of what was being said
. I would like to thank Sion & his lovely wife for getting this event off the ground
.
The event was enjoyable but only 1 RS Cosworth was eligible for the Trophy/Prize. When it was suggested to open up to all Fords that wanted to enter it seemed the correct decision. 7 Fords ran & it was rather obvious that Wenny would win but he certainly did it in style
.
We need to have a list of entrants to ensure attendance next time.
Great to meet everyone & it was Annies first event in 18 years. She enjoyed herself but the rain spoilt her street cred a bit
.
Nice meal after the event with Helen & Chip & their partners. Nice meal with great company. Its great to mix with people that are 30 years younger & although i may look older they dont treat me as such, keeps me feeling younger & I do appreciate that . Im a long way from Tele & slippers

I think you may be right Rod. Depending on how the track are prepared to go about the next one, They may want confirmed numbers and payments up front, leaving PF to send out the Tickets for participants running. Which in all fairness would be the right way to go about it in my opinion. Was Great to meet everyone and despite the weather and poor attendance myself and Abby still had a great time, So i suppose while i feel like that i will keep going. But i do like a challenge at the same time

Hopefully next year you can do it again but wait to see when other ford shows are on.
When I used to do my ford meets and when fast ford mag came there was a massive turnout cause people think they might get there car featured. Then the other meets when fast ford didn't come were still busy but not as busy as when ff came. So this is worth thinking.
So how did it work? did you just turn up on the day and park your car on the pf stand or did we all need stand passes? Like I said if I wasn't a bit skint this month I would of come to this show/meet.
