Default pinto running probs

Ive got an issue with the running of my pinto, it runs twin weber 45's and Is ported, cam'd etc etc. The problem started yesterday when I took the kit car for a blast round a disused industrial estate, first off it was fine but after about 30 mins it became rough as in touching the throttle would make it cough and bang out the exhaust and I can smell unburnt fuel. So today I started it back up and when cold it was fine again but after about 20 odd mins ticking over and revving it started doing it again, its like something is breaking down with the heat ??.
Ive changed the coil, plugs etc but something is leading me to think it could be the dizzy, it runs a bosch distributor with the ignition module on the side, has anyone had any experience with them or had a similar fault before

The things I have checked are

plugs = new
col = new
cap = new
leads checked
red top pump = checked + set to 2ish psi, god steady flow with pipe off
filer king = new
carbs stripped and checked by myself and cant see anything untoward, all jets clear and floats are closing etc, jets sizes have been confirmed by Northampton motorsport
good engine earth
good live feed to starter and electrics etc
fresh fuel

Any ideas ??

I don't know it was in the engine/kit car before I rebuilt it.

hi ive got a pnto engine in my kit car with twin choke webbers and the symptoms of your
engine sounds like the carbs are the problem and not the electrical side. try cleaning the jets on the carbs, i think that might solve your problems, the electrics are very basic for
the engine and ive never had any major problems with them and my engine and electrics are from a 1984 2.0 ford cortina.

Well today I found the culprit, it was actually the distributor itself it seems to be overheating. First off I took the ignition module off and checked to see if it had any type of heat paste under it which it didn't so I replaced that and fitted some new screws etc so all was good there, then I ran the car back up and timed it till it started messing about and it was 35 minutes from cold, so initially I thought the module was overheating so I made up a sub loom and moved the module to outside the kit car with compressed air being blown over it to keep it cool and after a few minutes it done the same thing.

So the next time I ran it up to the point of messing around i took the dizzy cap off quick and blew air down inside for about 20 seconds, quickly put the cap back on and started it, it ran perfect again for about 5 mins till it got hot, so I repeated the air down it again just to make sure and it solves it every time.

One thing I have noticed though as per pic, isn't there a bakelite/plastic cover missing from underneath the rotar arm ? if so could this be the issue ?
