Hi, my st 225 OS drive shaft gator has split.
I've been quoted 1hr labour plus part witch I was told would be about £15, now I have been told as it's the inner one it's £50 just for the gator is this right or am I being taken for a mug. Cheers

 

i cant imagine a rubber is £50 when the whole shaft is £36.90 lmao

might be right if its O.E. kit as i had to get a volvo one the other day at 52 plus vat!!!

 

I had to get an In inner cv boot for my fiesta as at the time pattern ones weren't available and that was about £40 with the vat

 

Sounds quite plausible to me. Pattern bits are often shit so would expect a good OE part to be about that.

 

its just a rubber boot, its £50 because ford are shafting him !

 

That sounds about right for a CV boot from Fords tbh.

It was about that when I bought mine.

 

I guess there all the same, take a part and triple its cost then sell it !

I have the same issues with cat parts

 

Inners are special on these due to the triangulated shape cv flange so £50 is about right

 

Ice just done a ns inner on a st2 focus had to get it from evens Halahaw was nearly 80 inc vat!

 

Why don't you call a Ford dealer and get a price for it, the garage will get a discount off what you are quoted which is their profit.

buying them separate can be expensive. Ford do a lit that has the inner and outer cv boots and all the clips that works out around £40 retail.

 

firstline make a decent pattern part, about £13 trade, I fitted one on my pals 07 plate st

 

Just hope the GTR's dont split lol

Update: All in it cost £120 for parts and labour, But Just got in from garage to discover grease all over the inside of wheel so I took the car back to them to find they have now managed to split the outer cv boot!!!!!
They have agreed to fix replace this foc.

 

Fair play if they sort it with no agro.
