Hi all, im after some advice about tuning on a escort cosworth.

i no of a car that i might purchase it has covered 30k miles and has just had a 10 thousand pound engine conversion by a 1 rally sport.

it has covered 4 thousand miles on the engine it is low comp, ported head with cams, grey injectors and hybrid t35 the car is immaculate.

What would it be worth, ie what is a realistic price to pay? and how reliable will it be with that power considering the box and diff are standard. any help would be gratefull cheers!

 

oh yea forgot to mention it is a lux 95 M plate with leather!

 

I think at that kind of power the Box and Diff will be right on there limit if they are standard.
Also not sure if this is an issue for you but if its on Grey's then you'll be visiting the petrol garage's....alot!

Hi i have a 400+ bhp escort and the box if you drive it hard dosnt stand a chance and on grey injectors you will get about 170 miles to a full tank thats about 80/ 90 mph on the motorway.
Mind you if its fully sorted in all departments like mine its nice and nippy

this is true if you are running a standard box it will not last, pointless having that power if you can never use it, on the diff side of things I ran mind @ 430bhp and then up to 488.8bhp the the diff was always going to go it was just a matter of time and as the rattles got louder it was on the cards, I was surprised @ how long it lasted but like all go things if let go big time 1 night.
I would take this into account on the price you pay for the vehicle bearing in mind you are looking @ 2k upwards for quaife diffs and the same for a second hand quaife box
