Default Restoring My S2

I know there are a lot of questions asked on here but I would like to get a bit of help making my mind up.

Basically I have G reg S2 and I am in two minds as to sell it or to spend money on it and keep it for a few years.

It has done 117,000 miles and with most high milage cars there is the doubt that it will last, so I would be thinking of a rebuild. The shell is not that bad, it has been welded before and now needs some more. Suspension will be needing done too as it has worn springs and dampers.

I love this car, but the doubt I have is that I spent a a bit of money on my last car and now regret it, I dont want the same thing to happen again.

If i was to restore it how much would I be looking at, taking in mind I dont want to make it the best S2 in the country just enough for me to be able to keep it for years to come with no problems.

If you sold it and someone else bought it and made it a minter it would probably make you wish you had hung on to it, it is an expensive hobby mate keeping a turbo, but id say if you can afford it hang on to it they are getting more scarce all the time...

Yeah I have decided to go for it as I am sure I want to keep the car for as long as possible.
As DaveN pointed out if I sold my car and then seen it after someone else had done done it all I would be really pissed off!

Just need the final thumbs up financially then it will be getting started.
Have been looking about this forum for the past 3 hours getting info.

I am still stuck on what pistons to get, suspension and if to go to EFI.

I will be looking to eventually go for more power around 170 - 180 bhp so need to get the right components for the engine so it will cope as I do not want to stress it at all.

Also need a trustworthy garage that can do the job, I live in Livingston, West Lothian so any suggestions from the Scottish guys would be great.

Be starting sometime in April so doing research so I am all clued up.

Hi AVA in Glasgow are your best bet north of the border......book your car in for set up and get the engine checked out whilst its in there....at least then you know where you stand with the conditon of the engine....and you can discuss the various options open to you.

Best of luck and welcome to Passionford.

chip /18psi
Low comp
stage 2 hybrid turbo
big valve head
GRS intercooler (or simalir)
s/s exzaust
fuel mod (ava)
Paddle clutch
Yod think this was my engine mods

And i would be aiming for 200@wheels which will fly

just a thought engine wise for you , would be keeping it simple , raher than a full on managment swap

AVA it is then, thanks folks.

What suspension have u all got? I am thinking of getting standard dampers and just getting sports springs as I hate the harsh ride that I have just now.
