Default Best mod on a puma ?

I am not talking about big things like turbos but what single mod have you done to your pocket rocket that put a smile on your face, does not matter if it cost £10 or a £1000

Tricky one that! Probably the coilovers, not a lot on my commute that can keep up in the bends

I know we all have different tastes so was just curious as I use my thunder as a daily so everything I do is subtle

Rear axle spacers, in my opinion are one of the cheapest and easiest of mods which you can notice the difference.

Then i would then personally say the lower front strut brace to tie in the wishbones. Note, i think front upper and a rear strut brace are a waste of time on the Puma.

Followed by bigger front brakes, i prefer the m6 Fiesta ST 280mm front brake setup over the 300mm Mondeo brake setup.

Rear spacers as said. They should have fitted these as standard for the sake of £30. I here the FRP management is decent mod too

common sense upgrades there Aaron , I fitted wider wheels with less offset instead of spacer option on the rear so spacers were not needed which was lucky, and agree about lower bar as for upper one unless its welded its useless as a couple of self tapping screws is not exactly going to help its just bling, earlier pumas brakes were shocking but tbh thunders with 260mm and abs are pretty decent, and fiesta 280mm is a better option when running std 15s , fair play geezer all spot on analogy's there

Didn't realise the spacers made that much difference, any pictures? Could get some cut on the laser at work

Good to see people giving the puma some love! Probably the most underrated car in its price range id say

The majority of people you'll see driving a puma are blokes. I love how the pumas are styled. Nothing like any of the generic model cars in today's market. Like 1-PD says you have to drive one and then the styling takes a back seat to the raw talent of what's underneath the looks

Best mods IMO in order of aceness

1) fit a lower front strut brace
2) renew rear beam bushes as usually they are shot and make a HUGE difference to the handling/ ride ( pref poly, but better ride on standard bush if running bigger wheels which is a no-no for me)
3) Replace lower arm rear bush with a poly item
4) Replace ARB bushes and all other front suspension bushes with new standard items
5) Oil and filter every 4-5k miles

Nearly every time I see a puma it's a bloke driving. Either that or it's parked up
Good all round cars for either sex still

Pumas are mint I love mine to bits. They look really stylish imo.

I like my 300mm brake upgrade cause it was cheap as chips. The brakes on the puma are bigger than my cossie.

I really fancy a 4 branch mani for mine.

How hard are the 280mm brakes to do and what parts do I need? Also where can I get beam spacers? Or any pics?

A good wash
In all seriousness though, that really put a smile on my face. Under all the grime the red devil wasn't nearly as sorry as I thought. And it does look lovely with a shiny red coat.
Too much maintenance to catch up on first before I could even think of modding(the joys of getting a neglected used car) and I'm afraid the kitten's gotta go now that it's all fixed. Need the money to buy gas for cossie

a mint silver puma parks opposite my house every weekday, must be commuter owned, but if he/she are fans of fords they will love my driveway at the moment. got the moondust rs2k4x4 sitting there and a stripped out red gti shell on axle stands right next to it

wider stance for one so the wheels actually dont look lost in the arches and by widening the axle 41mm in total it gives the car a feeling of greater stability and more confidence on twisty roads etc, best £30 a puma owner can spend and dead easy to fit

yes the bolts are longer and these spacers are just for the rear as tbh fronts dont really need pushing out because if you ever fit a wider wheel like a 7j they will be perfect front and rear with the rear spacers fitted, great how to guide on projectpuma for most mods

I brought a set of 12.5mm ones for my old MK4 fiesta and they made a difference, felt more planted.

They are just sitting in my room since I scrapped the car.

20.5 is ideal with either 6" or 6.5" wheels with correct offset as it give perfect stance , I fitted 16" 7J mondy wheels with ET35 and found 20'5mm too much so reduced down to 12mm

Do you have to adjust the camber/tracking when adding the spacers?

no mate fit them and forget them saves all the aggro you get with slip on spacer rings etc as all the studs/brakes are not effected

Wrong offset thats why!
fiestas and pumas run in the 40+ on 15s and bigger or thay rub like a bitch!

im running 20.5mm on 7j 15s with 195/50 and lowered 60mm and on a fiesta without rolled arches and I get 0% rubbing!
