Default Mondeo st220

Thinking of getting one and was wondering is there anything to look out for when buying one?

I've got around £3500 to spend, will that get me a good example?

The alloys get wrecked by even small potholes.

They dont seem to suffer from rust like the mk2s. After a certain reg the road tax is a fortune.

stupid isn't it. A 55 plate final facelift would be ideal. Most of them have fancy recaro trims in with half leathers.

I've had both petrol and diesel st and the st220 is quicker but ridiculous on fuel at only 18 mpg. St tdci is slower than the 220 but still fairly nippy and much more toque at 295 lbft plus 45 mpg. In my opinion the 220 is not practical with fuel at the price it is.

People say they get 60mpg from the diesel too but normal driving on country roads I see around 38-40mpg

Only time I saw over 60 well actually it went to 79mpg was when I reset the mpg trip on a huge downhill stretch of the motorway without accelerating

Would like a diesel version but heard horror stories with them going wrong and with me only doing around 14miles a day is it really worth getting one?

Gonna have to rethink on the st220 tho as 18 - 20mpg is a lot worse than I thought.

the final facelift has chrome everywhere, including the foglights and rear boot handle as well as inside (but not on the window rubbers on the estate versions) as well as swoopy side skirts

they are a good car and saggy bumpers means that they've come off in the past and not been put on properly again

for a performance car the brakes are shit but everything else is very good for the money and the space you have is huge

i recently collected a new bonnet for mine and it fitted into the boot with mm's to spare
