I removed mine as it does my head in after a while, chatter is so much better too lol. Doesn't it only help prolong the turbo when running big power?

Massive can of worms this one.

Many people are adament that the T3 is a pretty robust turbo and can manage without one even in the higher boost figures.

There is the argument that ford never fitted one so they dont need them, with the rebuttal being most people are running much more than standard boost.

I personally found the only difference running a DV is the lag between gear changes. Yes the DV releases pressure and allows the turbo to free wheel which would reduce lag, however the turbo then needs to repressurise the intake which has had all the air "dumped" out of it.

I have been running at just over 1 bar on a t3 for nearly 2 years with regular hard use. still its fine.as said I think a dv is only beneficial on high boosted t3's as there fairly tough so it shud aid turbo life. the noise also gets on my tits, they sound much better without. but its down to personal preference

When I had my Fiesta I did both and in the end opted for the DV,

My mate had issues with letting his turbo chatter as he was adament it killed 2 of them but the dump valve "saved" the 3rd one.

This was a T2 though and not T3

Exactly!
But here's my 'I ran x boost' story... No DV, 32psi .48/60 T3 used daily 3 years on still working fine, now on a Zetec Turbo.
