Yes they will. My 1990 2wd Sapphire is lowered with koni adjustables and eibach springs and I have had the arches rolled. I had a set of tyres the same size as yours and when fitted they rubbed badly when you turned the steering. If you have not had the arches rolled either it will be even worse. 205/40/17s are the right size to fit. If you are only thinking of buying the tyres dont waste your money as you will be gutted when you try to fit them.
Cheers Richard.

Depends on the offset of the wheels, and I wouldn't run 45 profiles either.

At that size it is more to do with the large overall diameter rather than the 225 width IMO.
On my road wheels I have 225/35, same same overall rolling circumference as std wheels.

Agree with you, but the guy who asked the question has got 225/45/17 and I can guarantee they will be no good for his car. With your road tyres being a 35 profile, with all the fucking potholes it must be a case of trying to avoid them or chance damaging your rims? My suspension is pretty low and hard and with my 205/40/17 tyres I have to avoid them if I can.

Would it work with putting 225's on the rear and 215's on the front?

All it was is there's a set of track tyres for sale on here and was looking to buy them for my track car .
If they fit the rear only that not to much of a issue as can get small for front at later stage

All you can do is try them on your car , it depends on how low it is and if you have rolled the arches. I was trying to avoid you wasting your money on the 225/45/17s as I had that size trackday tyres and they definatly will not fit. I have gone for the Kuhmo Ecsta 205/40/17s and they fit with no clearance issues at all.
