Default Hello from new ST owner

Good evening to everyone, on Friday I pick up my first Mondeo..which happens to be a ST 155 CDTi Estate. Really looking forward to picking it on on Friday and making my way back from Buxton to North Wales, might take all the back roads.

I purchased the car as a tow car for our caravan, after looking at loads of options I couldn't find anything I really wanted or fitted my budget. Then a low mileage Mondeo ST came into my inbox on Saturday morning, drove to Buxton Saturday afternoon and it's perfect so I purchased it same day.

Yes the clutch sounded like a bag of spanners, but the dealer hadn't even had chance to fit the new clutch / DMFW as he only got it on Friday! Other than that nothing else you wouldn't expect for a car with 50K on the clock. It's got full ford service history, four nearly new tyres, exhaust fitting in November and is in impeccable condition throughout.

Friday can't come quick enough, then the fun starts with getting a tow bar fitted.

Whoops, shows what I know One of my previous cars was a MG ZT CDTi so I guess that's stuck in my head.

Im afraid youre going to be disappointed if you want it for towing, its not homologated to tow and towing will be ilegal

Lovely car though, great find with 50k

Edited - Its only the petrol one that isnt homologated to tow so enjoy!

Yeah I'd already noticed that the petrol wasn't suitable, I believe it's the exhaust on the petrol that's the problem.

My new car shows tow capacity of 1800kg and a gross train weight of 3750kg, so all good.

Many people say the ST estate is brilliant to tow due to low profile tyres and stiffer self levelling suspension.

Thanks, lets see what other ST owners talk me into. First mod already done ....I don't even have the car yet! The wheels needed a refurbishing so I asked the dealer to get them powder coated in gunmetal colour.

Yeah thanks for noticing that. I gave him a long list of jobs to do on Saturday to get it right, one of them was that missing jacking point cover. The dealer called me this morning to say after new clutch kit going in and a full major the car is so much better to drive than when I drove it on Saturday...felt great to me apart from the DMFW under load.

Thanks for the welcome, nice to hear you still enjoy your car years on.

My previous MG ZT was tinkered with a lot...but once it got to 150K + on the clock it became a money pit.

This ST might go down the same route of tinkering, however as the ST estate is a rarer so I might leave it standard (for a bit anyway).
