Default anyone else had puddles in their cars?

was going to post this in the mondeo section mods BUT i'm sure that it is something that has affected more than just mk3 mondeo estate owners so i'm posting it here so that everyone can share their views

got into the car today after several weeks of inactivity and the passenger rear footwell is full of water, i mean FULL of water, above even the carpet level

ok, this is another job for me to solve but the fiesta also had a bootful of water where it was leaking form a seal for the wiper

is it just me or do even "modern" cars have the inherent ability to not be able to stay water tight in some wet weather?

i mean, surely you'd expect your car to survive the occasional bit of rain?

anyone else suffered wet cars in the rain?

My Mk2 mondeo is fine and stays outside all the time.

The Sharan does have a wet drivers side front carpet but not with water laying on top.

Both sierra's are fine, but then they do live in the garage lol

The other week I was cleaning a bmw 118d with the jet wash and that leaked through one of the back windows slightly. At first I thought It was my fault by holding the jet wash too close but the owner said it happens in strong rain too!

My mk4 Mondeo pisses water in the boot and fills up the spare wheel well. It's supposed to be the seal around the fuel filler neck that causes it, but I've not yet investigated.

Wet footwells on mk3 mondeo is more than likely going to be the door membrane seals. I've done loads of these in the past. once its wet it wont re stick so any water going through the door pours into the footwells. Carpets have foam padding underneath which can take a while to dry out. Worth checking first. Just remove the door trim and check. Hope this helps.

Our old mk3 mondeo turned out to be up above the glove box and fuse box ,on the inside, water getting in through the body sealer at the a pillar ,re sealed with tiger seal ,problem cured ,water was coming in as we was driving along ,actually took out the carpet for a few weeks to find the problem ,could see a trail of water coming down the foot well ,had done all the other usual cures before we found this one

My lad's Corsa was full of water last winter. It had been standing for a few weeks, and it had got so damp, there was mould growing on the seats
Driver footwell was full of water. Now sorted, needed a Ł2 gasket behind the brake servo..

Our mk3 leaked through the door membrane, then it drips onto the sill seal from the bottom of the door and runs inside the car.

Bit of fiddling and extra silicone sealant on the inside of the waterproof membrane fixed it.
