Scorpio was fuck ugly but a nice car to be in (as long as you didn't get seen in it)

Probe was pretty pants agree on that.

But on a more common scale how crap were the mk3 Fiestas with single point injection? even worse with the CTX auto 'box.

Cougars weren't very big sellers so I guess they're one of the biggest flops.

Imo the biggest Ford flop was the "Pinto".

Equally as ugly as the scorpio and probe. But they caused a lot of deaths (between 500-900) across a 10yr period, solely because of a design flaw with the fuel tank!!

As above, Cougar, Maverick, both had jap (Nissan/Mazda) always a recipe for disaster... Just like Vauxhall Vivaros are shit!

Fiesta convertibles. Absolute horrors.

 

As said above Scorpios are on the whole quite ugly and pricey. But they where actually a good car. So not really a flop as such.

Im currently looking at an estate one. Easier on the eye

Mondeo is by far the most unreliable car of it's class - look how many threads are up on here with people asking for help. They hold little value in 2nd hand prices to reflect this. A car only found on Council estates.

Mk5/6 rs2000 - say no more!!! The RS marque was at an all time low, incredibly dark days.

 

focus CC hasn't exactly been a massive seller!

 

rs200. after the group b accidents ford had to virtually give these away. wish theyd tried to offload one onto me.

 

Wouldn't call them a flop, rusty yeah.. but they sold well, and were pretty simple.

THEN they used a Fiat 500

 

Most were returned with leaks!

Ford even introduced dedicated training courses for master techs to go on to try and fix the fecking things leaking.

probes and cougars. shame about the probes really, been watching a few on ebay as i like the shape but most only have 2ltr 16v engines, would have been alot cooler with a 3ltr in

 

Also forgot about the Edsel too Rod. Read about how it nearly closed down Ford too.

To be honest Ford have only made a few iconic cars and the rest where shite lol

 

16v Probes used to eat distributors for fun, were about Ł300 even back than.

The probe lol, I did my work experience at the local Ford dealer in 1995 and they had a field full of them out the back

 

Whether a car is wank or not doesn't mean it's a flop.... those saying a Mondeo clearly don't understand that. They've sold millions of the fuckers, so hardly a flop. Probably one of their safe 'banker' models actually.

More Mondeo mk3s reported with faults as there's more of them on the road (and off it,fucked) than any other car ,lol!

 

Mk5 was always a wannabe Cossie, mk6 was fresh and a new model, bit bland but I liked them, plus the 4x4 was a limited run

(mk5) RS2000 was an xr3i with recaro's and painted wing mirrors, nothing more

 

Not forgetting the bonnet and engine.......?

 

A mechanic i know had on ratio, 5 vags (golfs/superbs/a4s etc) vs 1 mondeo in, with more engine and electrical problems. He mainly worked on vags because he done work for a taxi company.

But most ford taxis where mondeos (with the odd galaxy) and they mainly got wear and tear stuff (service parts, disc n pads etc)

So a bold statement to say mondeos where shite, considering what the above is true - the mondeo brand has bode well for Ford in europe

 

im voting for the focus mk1 saloon, what were they thinking pms!!!!!
