Default LandRover experts - Freelander

Anyone on her good with Freelanders? Sister in laws has just broken down, saying can't get it into ant gear apart from 1st. I initially thought clutch, but looking on Google, there seems common probs with slave cylinders fucking up/falling off....?
Any help greatly received, looks like ill be the one working on this shitbox pile of wank...

The slave cylinder is common. Also is the transfer box. Lots have the rear propshaft removed or there is a propper converion out there to make 2wd like people used to do with the cav / calibra turbo's as their 4x4 system was made from chocolate and sawdust lol

Nearly certain it will be the slave cylinder a right funny set up they come as one unit all bled up and ready to fit.Get her to pump the hell out of the clutch and then try for a gear. I managed to bodge one once for a little while just took the rod out of the slave cylinder and fitted a slightly longer piece of threaded rod

regards Mik

If its an early one the clutch release fork seizes on the box and then this pops the slave cylinder. When you take them off check to see if the arm feels seized. Very common problem on early freelanders I used to see it all the time at the dealers I work for.

Thanks again, ill have a look at the slave cyl an work it from there... It's got a private plate on it, but think its a Y Reg, not sure if its early or late....
Shes only had it about 6weeks an its been a pair in the arse from the off! Its a total lemon, makes the strangest noise at idle, sort of a high pitched wistle, so I'm sure it'll fuck up again soon!
