Default How do you keep a cosworth safe

I have seen there seems to be a lot of older cars being stolen lately so have decided to try and make mine a bit safer.I have no idea what the best car and garage alarms are or what options there are on trackers ect so thought i would see what you guys use??
I would be gutted if the old girl got robbed so I don't mind spending a few Quid if it helps keep her safe.

Locked garage, bollards in floor, tracker, data tag, CCTV. Smart water is also good on the major parts as easier to recover back to you. Knowing the police secure a conviction would help put your mind at rest.

Hi mate I never had a garage/driveway for mine but I did have a steering wheel dislock, gear stick lock, alarms, imoboliser, and pager system on it and I ha no problems thank go also it was under a car cover so it wasn't always on show, also a hidden fuel cut off switch under my armrest so it wouldn't got anywhere if anyone did get in

Have a look at alarms that incorporate a phone app. Let's you know when the alarm goes off and you can track it via your phone.

Not letting people on the internet know where you live and how your car is immobilised would be a good start.

The most practical has to be the bollard, as you can have all the immobilisation etc in the world, but that doesn't stop someone putting it on the back of a flatbed.....

Own and enjoy it, if it goes it goes! No point in having something that is going to worry you 24/7.

Cheap mobile phone, McAfee virus protection, sorted, live 24hr tracking device. even if the sim is removed from the phone you can still track it. Instant location on your laptop, phone tablet. you can have unlimited devices with it aswell. I have about 12 devices linked to my McAfee. My mam lost her phone yesterday when out shopping, within 1 minute i told her where it was. In one of the shops she had been in.

Maybe not much help over the summer months, but when my Escos is off the road over winter, I put it on axle stands and remove the wheels. I then put the wheels in the back bedroom of the house. It's pretty hard to steal a car if you can't roll it

I bought a new tab3 tablet in october and got McAfee livesafe package with it £20. Normally about £70. Part of the package is device tracking, live or on request tracking. I am the admin for the package on my laptop. I have my 2 kids mobiles tracked, so I know where they are at all times, along with my tablet, mams and kids tablets,2 laptop's, mams and wifes phone aswell. Unlimited cover as many devices as you want really. Basically log into your McAfee account press which device to find and bang, instant location. Like I say worked a treat yesterday when my mam lost her phone in Cockermouth. Im certain you can purchase it off their website or I got mine from Currys pc world. Could easily hard wire a phone into some where hidden or just keep on charging it. If I still owned my cosworths they would have them in there.

Added to say the programme goes into the device and only the administrator can remove the programme from the device. it works a treat and if you ever want to know where your loved ones or vehicle are its just the press of a button away.

Get down shep...

Ive got 3 cctv cameras looking at my drive (I will have when I fit the 3rd) I will point on directly onto my cossie.

When I first bought it I used to chain it to the lamp post outside my house.

Thanks for the pointers guys it has given me a few ideas on what to look into.Mine is one of a few 500s that get used a fair bit all year round so i do enjoy the car but with the ever increasing value of parts and the lengths some scum will go to to rob them now what to make sure i have done what i can to make it harder for them.

If they really want it ,Nothing will stop them,Plenty of garages have been taken to bits to get at cars,As costina said ,Avoid letting people know where it is,Even taking it to shows is
Risky ,thieves follow People home ,
Its a big risk owning them .Sadly nothing is ever safe these days

best defence is an AR15 with a drum mag and short M203 grenade launcher and an alarm system that gives you enough warning to get to the window to use said assault rifle.

99.9% of car thieves don't have a shooter so you will easily overpower the thieving cunts. Plus the rare ones who are armed, are likely to be armed with a pistol, and an AR15 at 600 rounds per minute beats a drilled out deact-react special any day of the week and it it all goes wrong, in the words of Tony Montana "say hello to my little friend" and let rip with the M203.
