RS 1600i A520 JPW
Hi to all, I'm trying to find out about a friends old car from many years ago, he had a white RS 1600i registration A520 JPW,
Last he knew of it was that is was SORN in the Leeds area of West Yorkshire
I do not want to know its exact location by no means, just interested if its still about or scrapped?
Hopefully it's still about and still mint, rare colour in white these days, he'd love to know, so would I
Cheers

Hi Andy, I now own A520JPW.Bought it in May 2009 from Beverly area of Yorkshire. Its currently mot'd but sorn'd until weather picks up.Its standard apart from bigger front brakes and in good condition for 31 years old, cheers matt.
Matt.
Great to hear its still on the road, told my mate and he's delighted however he'd keeps saying he never sold it years ago
but its yours now.
Just wondering has it got a square scorch mark on the back seat? My mate told me that on a hot summers day he left the sunroof open while parked up, the heat from the sun hit the rear view mirror and the reflection scorched the seat, luckily he caught it in time otherwise it would have gone up in smoke!
It didn't take long as he popped into a shop for a minute. It might have been repaired by now or new seat?
Just something to bear in mind with all our cars.
Thanks for the reply and hope to see it at a show sometime?
Going to start with the lakes tour, definitely national day,

Leave it as it is mate, all those small imperfections all have a story to tell, small cig burn in the passenger door card, steering wheel with tape around it, my mate telling me the other day about it when i showed him the pictures. Even the RS bade on the wing is his idea and the number plate is also from when he had it made!
It's amazing the stories about it, nothing bad in any way.
You could tell in his voice he wished he never sold it, he was amazed it was still the same as when he sold it.

The RS badges on the wings have gone, as well as the motorsport badge on the boot, it had clear indicators on when I bought it but there in the loft now but the plates are still on. Also swapped the steering wheel because of the tape (only because I had a spare). The front panel could do with being replaced, its gone behind the bumper and the boot lid is rusty, every time you close it more falls out. The thing is where do you stop? wings, cross member, floor pans, respray !!!!
I've noticed badges on the wings have gone, looked at pictures again, what have you done with the old steering wheel, need one badly for my series 1.
I know what you mean though, how far is enough, think that's easy to say, you never stop, always something to do
