Default Seized rear brake Caliper

Hello members, Ive had my first Mondeo since September and I now have my first problem

Its a 2006 MK3 Mondeo. The rear passenger side brake caliper is seized on. The handbrake cable is very loose and its my guess its the cable that has seized on the left side for some reason

I am a complete novice and I would greatly appreciate some help to try and fix this myself as I need the car for work on Monday morning

Thanks

Don't run it with seized caliper you'll melt all of the grease out of the bearings and need to replace the whole hub and abs unit, caliper is easy to change just be careful not to round off any bolts

Cables on them are bad for rusting inside and siezing on. Have had a few where the caliper has been fine once ive gotten the handbrake cable off

I've just bought a Mk 3 estate with the driver's side handbrake not working. The lever on the caliper was pulled fully forward and jammed. This made the handbrake lever inside the car pull all the way to the top. I put some WD-40 on the caliper lever and worked it back and forth to try to free it up. It didn't appear to help. I bought a new caliper but before I got a chance to fit it, the handbrake lever on the caliper freed itself off and it's now working fine.

Just use wd-40 on the leaver, disconnect the wire and work with it! It works, forward an bakvards, when it goes easy connect one more spring,

The only way to free the caliper up properly is to remove it from the car clamp it in a vise then remove the lever for the hand brake then the rubber seal flood the shaft with some 3in1 oil or similar and put the lever back on and work the lever backwards and forwards untill it is completely free
Wd40 is to dry it won't last , you may free it up on the car but it won't last your brakes will be binding again in no time
Also make sure your cables are free , the calipers are a pain but why by more when you can free them up . Do it right do it once
