do you even have a fault with the heated window? it could be an old fault that has already been fixed but never had the code cleared, i didn't relise a streetka was that advanced to even pick up on that tbh,

This sounds like a GEM module code for the heated front screen (do you have that & does it work?)

I don't think this has anything to do with airbag at all!

B2256 Circuit of heated windshield relay faulty (short to ground).REFER to: (501-11 Glass, Frames and Mechanisms)
Glass, Frames and Mechanisms (Diagnosis and Testing),

also reading up you are right it does not have a heated screen but the button that powers the heated screen powers the heated mirrors instead and today i found that the wires that run through the door were broke and maybe that has broken the relay, as its the same relay for the window and mirrors?

The heated windscreen button operates the heated screen and mirrors, you car has obviously at some point had its heated screen replaced with a non heated screen. I'm guessing the plug that connects onto the screen has been left somewhere to develop a fault.

Are you sure that this code is in the airbag module?

I just find this really odd, as on ETIS (Ford workshop manual) your code is not listed at all in the possible codes for airbag module. (SRS)

However, as above it's listed as a possible code for the GEM module. Which controls

Interior lighting
Dimmer function
Window heating
Heated windshield timer control
Heated rear window relay control

Wipers
Windshield wash/intermittent wipe function
Windshield post wipe
Rear window wipe during reversing
Rear window wash/wipe function
Information/warning functions
Lights on audible warning signal
Convertible top stowage compartment lid audible warning signal
Remote control
Locking/unlocking with remote control
Learning of remote control operations
Alarm
Perimeter anti-theft alarm system
Anti-theft alarm system with alarm horn with integral battery
Liftgate/tailgate release
Release via switch in the passenger compartment
Release via remote control
Other functions
Battery protection function
Diagnosis
Diagnosis
Service mode

I still don't understand how this is relevant to airbag, as usually airbag doesn't have any relevance to any other systems, the airbag module is wired to the airbag components and nothing else.

(Unless if a crash event occurs it can immobilise the vehicle on some cars)

Happy to be proved wrong as ever.

Sounds like there is a misunderstanding, the windscreen fault and airbag light can't be related surely, has the airbag light been on since you've owned the car?

yes only had the car a week the airbag light was on so went through all the diff ones and did the airbag dct and that code came up B2256 and it cannot be deleted but until i delete this code how will i know if it turns the light off? also this code only comes up when checking the airbag dct's so it must have something to do with it,

Most Fords have the connectors for heated screen at the base of the screen, so you'll have to pull off the wipers and scuttle panel and should be a 4 pin plug on the Street Ka. Screen resistance should be less than 5 ohms on each side.

You could try putting a pair of resistors in the plug to mimic the element.

I'm still in doubt whether this is relevant to airbag module if I'm honest!

I would expect the fuse for the heated windscreen to have blown if there's a short to ground,

Most probably,as any fault in the relay, fuses, wiring will put this DTC on. So all that needs to be working correctly.

I thought he's asking how to get round this fault code as there isn't a heated screen fitted any more?

It's a strange one!

cheers for all the advise, yes your right it has no heated screen but until i sort this problem out i will not know if it will clear the dtc in the airbag as thats where its coming up when you check for fault codes, this is doing my head in now,

<p>Ive found out that A constant amber light means that the Airbag Control Module is not functioning properly - usually because of a power/ground failure. </p>
<p>I dont know anymore about the heated screen other than what ive already said, but I cant see how the two issues can be linked</p>
