Identifying Standard Fuel Lines

Does anyone know which way round the std metal lines sit in the clips under the car and which pipe is which? ie which one's feed and which one's return and are they mounted nearest inside or outside the car? One pipe has a white tape band round it and one has red tape, the one with red tape has a flared end...
